Utamaro d’Ecaussines Z’s first crop of foals was born last year and he passed this test with flying colours! After a successful sport career Ludwig and Yasmine Criel’s stallion was launched into breeding no sooner than the age of sixteen. This attractive Diamant de Semilly son competed at the highest level with riders Joe Clee, William Whitaker and Niels Bruynseels and achieved major triumphs with all three! With Joe in the saddle Utamaro won the Nations Cups of Rotterdam, La Baule and the GP of Lummen. With William he won the World Cup of London-Olympia and participated in the WEG in Tryon. With Niels the stallion toured the world to win prizes in Mexico, Estoril, Aachen and came 2nd in the Nations Cup of La Baule! Utamaro d’Ecaussines Z is not overly tall but in his career he showed many bigwigs his heels. He stood out with his perfect technique and speed which he combined with a super canter and rideability. That turned him into a winner and he is expected to pass those assets on to his sons and daughters. Utamaro d’Ecaussines Z was mostly used for taller blood-bred mares who need more speed and quality. So the future of this ‘young’ sire is secure!
