They did it again!!
A few weeks after their victory in the LGCT Grand Prix of Hamburg, Christian Ahlmann and our black stallion Dominator 2000 Z (Diamant de Semilly x Cassini I – B: Tony Foriers) wrote history again last weekend. After an impressive jump-off round, they won their second Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of the season on Saturday evening in Stockholm!
It was ecstatic scenes in the centre of Stockholm as fans celebrated late into the night after an exceptional performance of top sport in front of a sell-out crowd in Sweden’s beautiful capital city. The world’s best riders and horses went into combat in the Olympic Stadium where the Olympic Games were staged in 1912.
The first round of the Italian course designer Uliano Vezzani was a difficult task for many combinations, where the last line from an fence with planks on a short three strides to a wide oxer proved to be the biggest problem for many. No one from the first part of eighteen combinations managed to stay clear in the course. Fortunately, the second part of the class did improve and eventually six combinations were able to qualify for the ultimate jump-off.
In addition, some top combinations such as Henrik von Eckerrmann with King Edward, Marcus Ehning with Stargold, Olympic Champion Ben Maher with Explosion W and of course… Christian Ahlmann with Dominator 2000 Z! It was again a brilliant jump-off with Christian Ahlmann and Dominator 2000 Z as the eventual winners. As the fifth combination in the ring, the successful duo set a perfect round and with a finish time of 35.69 seconds, they ended up being eleven hundredths of a second ahead of the competition.
Christian Ahlmann: "It was unbelievable, all the people here you can tell are horse people and know the sport, they are behind every rider and it feels great - I am more than happy. Dominator is an absolute superstar. This win is a very big step for the overall championship. We had a great season so far but it is only half-time. I am very pleased with my horses and my whole team who work really really hard and I really hope that everything stays sound and focused and we can make it at the end of the season."
Solid Gold Z confirms!
But it was not only a top weekend for Dominator 2000 Z, that other black pearl Solid Gold Z (Stakkato Gold x Calvin Z – B: Gestüt Sprehe GmbH) also confirmed all the good things of the past few weeks in Stockholm. Christian Ahlmann and Solid Gold Z went clear in both the first and second rounds of the Global Champions League and again played an important role in the second place of the Shanghai Swans in the team ranking. With these performances the duo also became fourth in the individual ranking twice.
Condor One Z
Next to the CSI5* classes, there was also a Youngster Tour scheduled in Stockholm in recent days, in which Christian Ahlmann brought our 7-year-old grey stallion Condor One Z (Codex One Z x Berlin – B: Dückers Heiner) to the start again. Ahlmann and Condor One Z put in some strong rounds, jumping to a third and sixth place.
